What Is Subwing?

Subwing is a twin-board device tethered to the back of a moving boat. You hold on, dive down, and the boat does the rest — pulling you through the water at the pace and depth you control simply by tilting the boards. Roll left, roll right, rise to the surface, dive deeper — all with your own body movement. It's part snorkeling, part underwater flying, and entirely unlike anything else we offer. No SCUBA certification needed. No fins required. You just need to be comfortable in the water and ready for something completely different.

What to Expect

  1. Arrival — Meet the crew at the dock at Balneario de Carolina 10 minutes before your session.
  2. Briefing — The instructor explains how to hold the boards, how to control depth by tilting, and the hand signals used to communicate with the boat.
  3. First Dive — You enter the water, the boat picks up speed, and you feel the pull. Start shallow — most people stay at 1–2 meters on their first dive.
  4. Explore — As you get comfortable, tilt the boards to go deeper. The reef passes beneath you. The boat circles and gives you multiple turns throughout the session.
  5. Wrap-up — Back on board, catch your breath and compare what you saw. A 60-minute session you won't forget.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Subwing safe?

Yes. You surface whenever you want by simply releasing or rising. The life vest is worn at the surface between dives. The boat slows or stops immediately on any signal from the rider. Our crew keeps eyes on you throughout the session.

Do I need to know how to dive?

No. You go as deep as you're comfortable — even staying just below the surface is a great experience. There's no minimum depth requirement. Many first-timers never go past 1–2 meters and still have an incredible time.

How is Subwing different from snorkeling?

With snorkeling, you swim on your own power and stay mostly at the surface. With Subwing, the boat tows you — you're moving through the water without effort, at controlled speed, with full control of your depth and direction. It's a completely passive but dynamic underwater experience.

Can I breathe underwater?

No — Subwing is breath-hold only, similar to freediving. Most participants dive for 5–15 seconds at a time before rising to the surface to breathe. You are never required to go deeper than you're comfortable with.

What's the minimum age and any physical requirements?

Minimum age is 10 years old. Participants must be comfortable swimmers. No prior diving or snorkeling experience is required, but you should be at ease with your face in the water and confident holding your breath briefly.
